Default Hot Spots?

Hi Guys,
D70 with kit lens, widest setting, F8, 1/1.3s have hotspot

Anyone else have this prob?

Could it be the small aperture?

Sure it's not flare? Never shot at 1/1.3s before.

Vortex - what's your setting when you shoot manual?

Always dead center with a bluish tint
Teerex, what is your settings?
Maybe next time I try shooting at F5.6...
The prob is that it does not always appear, so it's diff to remedy

I usually shoot at P. On a bright day, aperture varies from f/3.5 to f/4.3 and shutter speed from 1/2.5s to 1/15s, sometimes at 1/30s if very bright. And also +1.0ev.

Hmm... initially I also shot in P. But lately seems like it's always underexposed...
Maybe have to calibrate D70 to my "green" eye...

I'll most prob try with f/5.6
f/3.5 DOF quite shallow. Next outing see how.... Thanks

I got hot spot before on my 18-125 Sigma as well.
I think maybe same problem as it does not always happen.
Somebody mentioned about light entering thru the viewfinder making the exposure wrong (Sorry can't remember who), I will be covering the viewfinder the next time I shoot (Time to dig out the eyepiece cover from D70) as I also sometimes get underexposure shots while using P mode.

Hmm, u mean the light leak from the view finder?
Might be possible, cos I almost always shoot with the Sun behind me
Dennis, does D70 comes with viewfinder cover?

Yes, the viewfinder cover is an included accessory with the D70. Look for a small piece of black plastic marked DK-5. It's packaged in the accessories box. That's your viewfinder cover.

A little OT in this thread.

Anyone have the ND2 or ND4? Tried shooting IR with the ND and the R72?

May give a different result.

How much does the 67mm ND4 cost? Itching Again. But would like to know the results first.

I was also wondering if it would help. But it will force u to use a longer exposure, will that cause more hot spots?

Anybody with 67mm ND2 or ND4? Pls bring along and try
