Thread: Photographic Cafe

    Default Photographic Cafe

    Hi,

I am a new member of this community. Me and my friends are working on a business plan of "Photographic Cafe" where photography enthusiasts can meet up, spend time together and also benefit from the spcialized photographic services provided there.

The idea is to combine the two elements of good food and photography together in a cafe. Follwowing are the services we are hoping to provide in that cafe:

    1. Seminars and events related to photography.
    2. A collection of photographic magazines and books.
    3. Display of photographic work by frequently visiting customers.
    4. Developing and printing facilities.
    5. Computer facilities for editing and touching of photographs before printing.
    6. Good food.
    7. Mini studio rental.

We are not sure about our idea and we will be very thankful if you can spare a minute to fill out our survey. It is very short and will only take around three minutes. Please click here:

    Thank you.

An idea or real plan? Real plan you got to cater to people who have passion. Best you open a darkroom that can print at least B&W, and colour if possible.

No, I can go to a real cafe and real photolab that will both provide better and cheaper services definitely. Item 1,5,6 (in the service) are not feasible. People that are passional about photography will not print neoprint in general or print at cheapo instant machine. You are neither here or there.

Talking about DIY colour printing? Hehe...you'll need a fume room for that--colour chemicals are hot and toxic...

Lemme do up the survey too...

Would agree with ITguy that items 5 and 6 (Neoprint and computer editing) are pretty much not necessary. Most "pros" won't use those services at the cafe while amatures probably don't need those services.

It's a good attempt to craft out a thematic cafe, but I sure do hope you have a proper business plan and financial model to prevent a "3-minute passion" when problems arise.

You may want to further focus your target market. "Photographers" in general, to me, is a bit too vauge to define.

I would be your customer if you open one.

Sipping coffee, reading books on photography and meeting like-minded individuals is great !!!

Its even better if you have a darkroom for rent.
