Plannnig to get the Canon S40. Thought the price would have dipped a little by now.
The price that i got quoted was $1,020 w/o GST Is this a fair price to pay? The waterproof casing is $285. However, i understand that there is a flaw in the casing. The camera cannot be turned on or off with the casing on as the slide on the camera acts as its on/off button. This would mean turning the camera one before putting it in the casing. Is there a work around for this situation? |

Price is ok.
Don't understand your concern regarding sliding cover. Why do you want to put it into the case with the lens protruding? One way to solve this is to get a bigger camera case. ![]() |

The casing is designed for the s40
The sliding cover acts as a on/off mechanism right. As the casing cannot be used to slide the cover to turn it off, the user will then have to turn it on before putting the camera into the case. As such, even when the user is not using the camera, the camera will still be on |

I'm not familiar with the S40, but most cameras have an "auto-off" which turns off the camera after a specified period of time. To turn the camera on again, you just press the shutter button.
