Fungus in lens

Anybody knows of any good place where to send lenses for fungus cleaning?

And how much will it be?

It's an 5 year old Olympus IS-100, SLR with fixed lens 28-130mm, if I rem correctly.

I didn't use it for over a year now and never kept it in a dry box! oops!!

give a call to Oly service center & ask them to quote u a price for cleaning & realignment.
it mayb expensive though.. cos the 'longer' the lens... the more ex.
but at least u know it will be properply cleaned.

You can also try at any of the many camera repair shops at peninsular plaza and peninsular shopping center, like Camera Workshop or Prime Camera,

Bearing in mind that the cam is 5 years old, these shops may not want to service coz of the lack of parts, so ultimately you will need to go back to the agent. (Olympus)

Also bearing in mind that the cost of repairing would be higher then getting a replacement of a new model.

talisman, i got one of those oly hybrid SLR like cams and it also has some bit of fungus growing in them after years of unuse.

i called the oly service centre and if i remember correctly, it's about $80 or so.

give them a buzz and PM me if the price is updated....maybe i shd clean that one up. it's a great cam!

What is the cost of lens 28-130mm ?? as well as the cam ??

If the cleaning cost is more than 30% of your lens/cam cost price ... with it's 5 years old then it may not be worthwhile to go for cleaning .. better to get a new piece of lens with the latest technology ...
