Need to heavy gaffer it. The pain is very easy to drop off.

been using this lens for a few months, and honestly this is the BEST lens I've ever used. you can't see much difference using Nikkor 80-200 AFS lens except that this sigma lens cost much less. that's all. HSM is fast enough for me...

welcome to the club !

Hi Cahoy, is it true that the painted letterings will fall off easily?
So far the paintwork on my bigma and sigma 12-24 seems tough enough...

Great value for money lens, and the image quality is great. Has my recommendation too. This lens is recommended for anyone on a tight budget but needs a 2.8 70-200mm range.

Thanks for all your comments guys! Anyone tried the 2x Teleconverter Sigma APO with this lens? Will there be a BIG quality loss?

For the price of around 1200-1300, it's worth price. The only setback which is similiar to Tokina 80-200 ATX Pro (Gold Ring) is when open up to f2.8, the image is soft. You have to closed down to at least f4-5.6, then your image will start to get sharper.

There is only a couple of 70-200s which I have tested and found sharpness from some of this lens open wide at f2.8. The Nikon 70-200 VR, AF-S/D 80-200, Canon 70-200L f2.8 and Minolta 70-200 f2.8 (white lens body).

As for TC on the Sigma, I would not call it "Big Loss" but there is some losses for sure. If you use at higher ISO, TC 2X will be quite significant on a zoom lens. Do not recommend you to purchase it.

Just imagine, if you are wearing a pair of glasses, just move it further away from your eye sight. What do you see?

The use of TC on fixed/prime lens is much better off.

Good luck on your purchase!

I think the tokina has no HSM.. I tried my friend's and the AF is pretty slow
