Any cheaper price for D70?

CP offers D70 price as follows.
Body = $1365
Body+kit = $1700
SB800=$620

Anyone knows a better offer elsewhere?

mostly i checked, prices range from $1690 - 1720
i believe SB800 can get at $610(/w gst) at TK
if i didnt remember wrongly, i think Lords selling D70(kit) /w gst at $1690

I got the kit for $1680.. won't tell you the shop because they hassled me so badly for extras after I'd bought it that they don't deserve a recommendation. You should be able to get a similar price at some of the good shops such as Cathay.

$1680 or $1700, it doesn't matter. It's a nice piece of kit.. and the lens is great value in the bundle. Don't lose too much time over a few dollars!

rumour has it that a d50 will replace the d70 and will be smaller in size and comes with a 6.1 meg sensor

Whatever, confirm that d70 price will drop.
my opnion is that if the "d50" has a better sensor ( eg use CMOS like the new D2X) then go for the d50,
if not get the d70 as it a pretty decent cam.

Correction! "Even" if there is a new D50, it is not meant to replace D70.
D70 replacement is "not" in yet.

yup.

and as such, the D70 price probably wouldn't drop too much. otherwise, it'll put downward pressure on the newer cam, which is already lower priced.

It is also largely depend on what Canon is going to do. Judging from Canon's frequency of replacing their product, it is likely that they will have a 300D replacement.

anyway where did the D50 news start from? If it's gong to come in late feb.. that will mean it will only reach singapore like june or july. Nikon always annouce their products very very early then let people wait and wait...

The rumoured D50 is a stripped down version of the D70. Might have less functions compared to the D70. I'm still waiting to get my hands on the D70. The guy in MS Color mentioned that Nikon might come out with a promo for the D70 in March. Guess have to wait and see lor...
