bigtummy,

Seems that your camera's CCD may be faulty. If the line is slanted, probably just some hair or fiber. Use remove the lens, engage mirror lock up, squeeze the shutter and use a blower to blow out the foreign object. If every picture has the same vertical line, in the same exact position, then I'm quite sure the CCD or related circuity is kaputt. Chances of a 100% straight hair or something stuck vertically on the CCD is next to impossible.

See if Alan Photo can give you a one-to-one exchange later (provided that they have a 1-to-1 exchange policy). Else go down to Nikon Service Center on Monday morning to make some noise. Bring along your local Nikon warranty card and receipts.

Hope this helps and good luck.

Allan

It is not normal.
I agree with chaltan have said.
Since you bought a few days ago, bring down to AP to ask for one to one exchange.
If they refuse, throw a complain bomb to them.

The backup plan is to go to Nikon service centre for serving which may take a week or more.

1) All the lenses you owned achieved these lines? (Which lines btw, the hair lines on the right I presume?)

2) Try taking at f/2.8 to f/16, does it occur at all images?

3) Try taking a shot with the len cap on, is it the same?

I only see one thick black line. Not sure if that's part of the objects. Anyway, why don't you post a picture of a blank wall and show us?
