Default NASA's Project Morpheus Lunar Lander Crashed And Burned

YouTube ID No. HVLG2JTMTS (Initial sequence of explosions at 1:56, second at 6:22)

First ever free flight test of the Morpheus lunar lander just ended on a less than satisfactory note. Perhaps they should get someone who can count as a start.

Still love the sweet, sweet boom in the low audio frequency as the methane ("fart") rocket engine ignite.

Those shock diamonds are rather distinct and they are only formed under the dense atmospheric pressure of Earth typically around sea level. Exhaust flame from both jet and rocket engines will be less visible to the human eye with increasing altitude until all one can see is a single brilliant point of white light originating from inside the combustion chamber.

IIRC. there are certain cool regions around the cryogenic cooled nozzle of the Space Shuttle Main Engine (SSME) that you can actually touch with your bare hands while it is firing with 375,000 to 418,000 pounds of thrust at sea level but obviously no one has ever tried it a meter away from a 1,400 to 3,300 C gaseous plume.
