Default Why its called *ist....*istD

Hiee Pals....

Just to share this information on why the camera was named *ist (film) or *istD.....

Well.....it was based on the way how one describes a status....like

Perfectionist - From the word Perfection"ist"
Artist - from the word Art"ist"
Specialist - from the word Special"ist"
Novelist - from the word Novel"ist"
Reservist - from the word Reserve"ist"

Therefore...they name the camera based on the above analogy - *ist

Well.....hope it solves your mystery....

rgds,
sulhan...

yep, and the * is meant to be used like the wildcard in search-strings, which can represent any combination of letters. so with this camera, you can be any kind of -ist you want :P

still don't know how to pronounce it though

i still laugh aloud whenever i come across this camera's name and shake myself so hard. I'm quite certain this is not name by a person who speaks english as his native language. if so i would like to have a gun and shoot at the person who hired the creater of the name of this camera.

its pains me and i believe a 12yr old kid could have done a much much better job at naming the camera.

when you cannot pronunce a name you will not remember it.

just look at all the famous brands, tell me what do they have in common,

mostly a name that is eary to read and pronounce by everyone.

coke, 7-up, nike, reebok, puma, 7-11 etc. easy to read and remember.

ist* ????????? the camera with the unpronounceable name.

So many syllables. Just pronounce it star-ist-D. 3 syllables. Repeat after me, "Star. East. Dee."

"That little Pentax DSLR, no, not that new one, yes there are two, I am refering to the first one" is how I usually 'pronounce' the *ist d when I talk about it to people.
