    When we were younger...we were told to cultivate savings habit by dropping our petty cash into piggy bank regularly....but nowadays people gets penalized for doing that....in fact most of them encourage people spending future $ like no tomorrow.....what is our world heading I wonder

    Roll up your coins neatly with scrap paper (blank side facing out)

    50c x 20pc = $10 << and label it this way on your roll.
    20c x 25pc = $5
    10c x 50pc = $5

    most provision shops or small business eg your favourite humless-Meesiam hawker , would readily be able to accept in such a form (my neighbor is a plastic-bag vendor and always asks us for coins. I asked her which was the best way and she showed me a few rolls as example).

    hope that helps. happy National Day to Clubsnappers in Singapore

    i agree with shizuma. small business owners and provision shops will readily take your coins. I understand they too need to pay money to bank to convert notes to coins... it is a win-win situation for both u and the business owner.. both don't have to pay interest to the banks.

    i recently convert all my coins.. (nearly 1k of $1 coins) to notes and bought myself a 2nd hand lens hehehe.. i changed it at Wang cafe, Laundry Shop and few others hawker stalls... each time i change, is abt $50 dollars worth of coins.

    The vending machine in my office accepts coins and without making selection of product I abort and the machine gives out a higher denomination coin.

    Ex 10 cents x 10 -> abort -> I get a 1$ coin
