Default Any successor to Coolpix 4500?

Been waiting for a successor of this form factor, hoping it will move towards the low end DSLR picture quality. ANyone knows if a project like that is taking place? My old Nikon abt to retire liao.

nope, believe that the 'rotating' prosumer series that we have seen from the likes of 990, 995 and 4500 has been chopped and will not make a come back.

they were great for macro shots.

The mechanics on a rotating body is complex. Instead, the "flip and rotate" LCD in the coolpix 5000, 5400, 8700, 8400, 8800 is better. Both allows you to take low-angle shot or overhead shots without problem. Of course, the Canon G6, Minolta A200 also has the same "flip and rotate" LCD.

i c. Quite sad as I have gotten to like the rotating body. Yup maybe it's out of habit, having the 990 and 4500. But the 4500 is really aging and since i bought all the accessories for this series, would be quite a waste if my cam goes kaput and no successor. My 990 use till flash cannot charge, only can take photos in bright situations. Wonder if I can open it up to change capacitor, which i was thinking could be the faulty thing. Anyone has exp opening up a Coolpix?

yo! CP4500 user here also. i think what attracts me most about CP4500 is the way we can take pictures really very discreetly, and quite easy to find places to rest the camera on and hold (even on walls) for slow shutters, very useful when i go on site studies, i really like the feel of rotating the camera body also ... haha
