Default First landscape picture at Gardens by the bay

    1. in what area is critique to be sought?
First attempt at taking a landscape photo. Need experts to verify if its done right or visually acceptable.

    2. what one hopes to achieve with the piece of work?
Hope to get my compositions done right.

    3. under what circumstance is the picture taken? (physical conditions/emotions)
    Afternoon, cloudy condition.

    4. what the critique seeker personally thinks of the picture
It is my first attempt but I would like to seek most honest opinions. Hopefully I can improve on my landscape skills. Thanks

Firstly, there is no interesting element or focus in this image
Second, there is no composition here, there is too much of sky which is not very attractive as well (and
    Third, the image is underexposed

I would suggest you go to a more suitable spot maybe a higher or lower vantage point or closer to the building. Personally I have not been to gardens, so I cannot recommend any places.
But it seems here that you need to get your basics right first, learn the rule of thirds at least and how to expose an image properly.

i would suggest to crop away some of the sky into a pano format and correct the backlighting to bring out the colours more.

Hi, in response to your question, I used the free photo editing software programs called "Photoscape" and "Gimp".

A refreshing change to see something other than the super trees. They have been taken to the death, including myself.
Anyway, Zaren did the magic already. Just keep in mind the ABC of landscape photography in the future -

Colors - blue / green is a good combination.
Shapes - The dome, and flyer are the two prominent shapes (elements) in the photo.
Lines - The "river" sort of leads the eye (attention) to the dome, but too many "outstanding" trees, making this photo "too busy", and "distracting".

P.S. Try visiting the garden during sunset, and it's amazing at night. There's a "free show" at the super tree grove everyday at 7:45pm and 8:45pm. (good time to take photo)
