Default Tokina 17mm f3.5 in SG?

Anyone here owns a Tokina 17mm f3.5? How's the quality, web reviews rate it quite highly.

Where I can buy one in SG if it's even available here? And wat's the est. price?

If i remember correctly, Ben1223 owns a 17mm prime and I think its a tokina, but cannot confirm. He brought it down during last year's gathering. Quality was great. Let me find a pic we took during the gathering.

CP stocks it, I think that they are currently having a sale on tokina stuff
ask they about it, I have a Tokina 17mm 3.5 and love it.

ortega, what price did u pay for it?

actually i'm deciding between 17-35mm to 17mm. Although I would prob use the 17-35 at 17 or 35 end, which my KM 28-75 already covers. Hence I think prob a 17mm prime would represent a better value, at prob a lower price.

not sure about the price, but can call up CP for quotation. the prob is that CP holds very little stocks for M mount. probably have to pre-order from them.

Not bad, but better for film than digital IMO. CA is noticeable.

Not bad a lens... Here are some snapshots with this lens... I don't have much skills with wide angle... Both were shot with film...

The perspective for the buildings in the background (for the first photo) looked a bit extreme.. is it normal for kind of lens?

Yes indeed... If you are not careful and the lens is tilted and not straight on, that is the effect of wide angle lens... Anything wider than 24mm is easily distorted...

Here's sample pics

CP is selling it not more than S$450. Got it from them.
It's my current favorite whenever I go out for street shoot.
I used it during Eye e City. Getting my pics today so I may
be able to post tomorrow. If I can remember which one's I used
with it.

IU'm back from Eye e City. Turns out they're going to give pics back only after book launch and exhibit. Sigh

The newer version, which has the exact same optics, has a removable plastic "tulip" hood, 77mm thread, a dual-mode focus ring (damped for MF/undamped for AF), and Tokina's AT-X PRO finish (crinkled paint). I think the older version is slightly cooler (I have the new one)

yap.... i need a wide angle lens fast and only Sigma can "support" me. was waiting for the tokina, but still not out yet... i'm having only a 17mm FIX. shooting event is like a handicap photographer.... have tried it... VERY fast in auto focusing....

the build is like a cannon.... so BIG.... i don't like the build. who knows, if the tokina is out, i would want to sell this sigma lens.....
