    read the fineprint

" US Domestic Orders Only. We DO NOT Ship to P.O. Boxes.
Note: Orders NOT being shipped to your BILLING
Address WILL REQUIRE additional time to process and ADDRESS VERIFICATION."

usually most of the online shops in US will only accept USA issued Credit Cards, i.e. ur S'pore CC could not be used. ask ur US colleague for help...

    cheers.........

regarding the buying of online stuff, is it subjective to the 8.25% GST ?
Will I get GST rebate in the airport ? :P
most online stores would not have tax.... and u cant rebate the tax at the airport... i dun think US practices that...

If you buy from Adorama, you can use your SG credit card. Then deliver it to your office in CA. That's what I used to do

I am not expert in finance but this is what I hear-say:
Credit card company will have a pool of cash floating around, they will buy-sell foreign currency and trade as well. The exchange rate on your credit card bill depends on the buy-sell rate they trade on or near your transaction day. In most cases, it is at a advantage to you. (ie better rate than money changer) This is because their pool of cash is much bigger than yours so they can optimize.

Yup as Fongster sez - best place to check out stuff is Keeble and Suchat in Palo Alto - near Stanford University/California Street. Prices not great - but selection is the best around the Bay Area. See what you like, examine, and then you can still order from BH. CF card prices always lower than in SG too.

dont miss monterey's 18mile drive. its really beautiful.
use highway 1, it right on the edge of the american west coast.
although its a few hours drive from san francisco, it totally worth it.
dont miss the lone cypress there.
can try the hotdog at the kiosk (near the gift shop) at the golden gate bridge, taste really good
alcatraz island also worth a visit.
palace of fine arts good for picture taking.
walk around fishermans' wharf but no need to try seafood there, not cheap and no big deal in taste.

been there by myself in 2001. so beautiful i regretted not being able to share the experience with some1.
so went back for my honeymoon in 2003, toured same place but still buey sian.... coz too beautiful liao (compared to other major cities in US).
yup, driving is the only option and get ready to spend some $ on parking, drive to an attraction, park and walk. but can try the cable cars just for experience sake

Don't know if it has been posted before, I don't time to scroll through every posting here, but try to spare time for visiting: Carmel, Six Miles Drive etc along Highway One (two lane rd along the coast that connects Carmel with LA), which you can visit after going to SF. Very romantic to watch the sunset from the coast, too bad I was alone......Are you renting a car?

You need a lot of US$1 notes when you are there. Not just for parking, but also for tipping. Put a small stack in your pocket where you can reach easily.

US isn't a cheap place to be in, better be prepared

you will need coins for parking - that is if you can find a lot in SF!!!

as for tipping....normally you will get back your change in a restuarant so not much worry there....

check out the dim sum in chinatown in SF....very yummy

when paying in resturant, if you are paying by credit card, there will be a line in the receipt for give tip, u could just write the amt of tip and total up.....
