Hi H20

nice exposure. both are very nice. I esp like the column of light coming down on the batfish in pic 2.

you were less than 10m from the surface?

siaoon, u must understand it is a scanned film shot. I reckon the print to be many times better than what we see here.

i think the 2nd one is nicer..

the column of light seems to capture my attention then the fishes, like holy light from above lol as if someone from above just released all these batfishes

Hi h2o,

I love a hybrid of both actually, allow me to explain.

I like the way the school of batfish which is swimming into the frame, on pic 1 , however, it is pic 2 's sunrays and "background" blue water and sub rays taht atttracted my attention . I actually don't fance the landscape crop on the 2nd photo.

Would have love the (if possible) sun rays and blues with the batfish swimming into the frame like in pic 1.

Hope that helped

hi all,

good tuesday morning to u...thx for all your comments.......

eel: agree with u,would have been better if there was no amputaton.

lovells19: i like the spot light effect in the 2nd pic.

waisj: i understand what u mean, do u think that 16 mm may be a better lens to make the hybrid of the 2? pls advise how u may take the pic and the lens u may use.....the batfish are about 1 m from camera in the 1st pic and slightly more than 2 m in the 2nd......i was at about 6 m from the surface.....the background is a reef wall.....

many thanks........

Nah.. 16mm would be too wide, normally i'd be using 20mm for schooling fish, big fish and stuff, 16mm only when i wanna use for reef shots, sadly enough, my film days were wrought with bad exposures and lousy vis

Well if possible, get a bit closer to the fish for the first and point up, again easier said than done, no fish poses for photographers... or so they say.

Cheers

Actually, youshould re-scan the photos. judging from the lack of details, i can only imagine how captivating the #2 is for the sun rays and #1 is for the moody feel.
