I'm curious…what lens does Canon have that Nikon doesn't that fits a newbie?
Unless "newbie" is someone who only wants F1.2 Prime lenses

both are great to serve your general needs, there is not a need to switch.
i use nikkor lenses on the ultra wide to standard range and canon for anything beyond, only get what you really need for your requirements

lens range between both are quite negligible lah no reason to change, what needs changing is the person behind the lens to constantly improve and till such time, he actually knows what he really wants, without the need to ask. That's when you're ready to change. Besides, Nikon have better dynamic range than Canon, that's one thing I wish my Canon has.

Funny you should look at who has the larger lens range or ability to adapt legacy lenses. Are u really gonna buy them all? :O

Nikon had a Noct lens too.

Thread is probably flame baiting post intended to ignite a brand war.

Well but it's not a 0.95 haha. Quite true since TS didn't really say why he want to change and change from what, his needs and wants etc. prolly wanted to change so he can share lenses with friends though

Either i switch or i get a Canon and Nikon body.
    1. As has been asked by many here - what lens are you looking at exactly? The line of reasoning seem to suggest that you're looking at some of the pricier options or labelling (something white and L) that is not offered by Nikon. Would a third-party option solve this "need" for a better lens?

    2. You mentioned that "either I switch or I get a Canon and Nikon body". This seems to suggest that you do like what Nikon has to offer but would like to experiment using a Canon which basically equates to you not knowing exactly what you really want.

By the phrasing of your statements, it seems that you have the means to obtain the gear. If so, why don't you, the TS, go rent the desired equipment and find out for yourself what fits your needs best?

Just use what you have. You dont need so many gear..and frankly given your age (no offense) i think you should focus on other things. (especially if you haven't/dont even start earning your own money.
Good gear dosent mean good photo.

Keep practicing and shooting with your currently equipment like what bro milk tea is saying. Only buy lenses and bodies if you are certain that it is the lenses and bodies that limit your ability to take your style of photos. I learnt that the hard away after wasting away so much of my hard-saved pocket money trying to buy lenses that I don't really need and selling them off for a loss.

    Remember, skills > equipment

I use Canon and Nikon systems regularly. And while there are differences, there are no make or break by either systems.

In fact, I just did a commercial grade assignment with a Sony system. Again. No complaints.

If all TS wants to do is to take pictures, any system would suffice :O
