It's about time liao.

Black 300D is already selling at $1,500++, clearing stocks fast.

Watch out the onslaught of Canon in March.

Also, it will have multiple thread size and 2 fluorite glass elements.

I don't think Canon will call it 500D, since they've another product (close up filter) by that name.

Thought AJ23's response was quite interesting. 500D is a close-up lens by Canon that comes in 52, 58, 72 and 77mm sizes.

Bingo.

500D is indeed Canon's close-up filter. And not to forget, there's also 250D, which is also a close-up filter.

I was wondering how Canon go with their naming conventions when come to new products.

I think newbies in that HK webpage got mixed up with the close up filter.

Default 300D Ceasedproductionn?

"Sayang" man.

300D is a good camera. I have one. Wonderful camera for its simplicity.
They should come out with one with all similar feature except improvement on body material. Maybe a "310D"?

Having used a D70 (I was a Nikonian), I can say that if u don't tweak too much, 300D is safe bet. More close to a film DSLR when u compared to the controls and settings of a D70. (Comparing a similar class camera).

There will always be a better models and this is how manufacturers be it cars, cameras and handphones survive.

The 300D will def have a good replacement and it is anyone's guess what the name of the new model will be. But soon in PMA 2005 we shall know the truth.

Definitely the new model will have more control functions like. Digic II, 1 Shot mode and Ettl II and it still in a plastic body, black hopefully.

Smile No end to chasing the lastest!

I think we just have to be contented with what we have now and make the best use of it. Until your skill or situation requires you to upgrade, then go for the new camera that is within your reach and requirement.

I am sure Canon will release another sub SGD $2000 "Prosumer" category DSLR camera soon. It is time for 300D to retire

I got a better suggestion why not get the "Myself MarkII"? It should be free and probably have lifetime warranty.

Cheers

don't think so. some features might be better (e.g. I/O speed for CF operations, maybe higher resolution LCD, etc) but overall 20D would still be a better and higher priced body.

maybe the new cam will be unimaginatively called 300DMkII
