Couldn't wait, went directly to your pbase website to take a look

Just curious, you use manual, aperture priority or shutter priority in your pics here?

Hi iamasaint,

Having seem your numerous excellent work and other's work on actual day wedding....I have a very big question I cannot answer?

What's wedding shoe, bars, doors, flowers, tea cup and pots got to do with the wedding?

I'm not sure how much attention the bride or groom and their family and friends will place on these photos?

Are we documenting the wedding process for the bride and groom or taking photos for ourselves?

Sorry but i'm just think aloud and hope to hear other's frank comments.

cheers,
Sim

Hi... I shoot with aperture priority when not using flash and in manual when using flash...=)

Hi Petf69... its an interesting point you brought up... first and foremost you try your best to shoot the best possible pictures for the couple. You shoot what you percieve to be the best angles, objects of the weddings. You also include items that lend meaning to the wedding. In a photojournalistic approach, you would want to include items like the teapot, shoes and all that the couples will look back in years to come and remember these beautiful items which they had used.

It is very common in fact for couples who would want these shots. I have many couples who actually specifically want these shots taken. "Eh...remember to take my bouquet huh? and my teapot...." Its a style that have moved on from previous styles where the couple is solely the centre of attention...here the couple is kept in importance with the aid of these ornaments, the guests at the wedding, the kids, their relatives and parents and so on... all these might mean to us but trust that it is not for most couples.

Would you like your wedding photographer to take such shots? I would...

What software did you use to denoise some of your photos that were taken at ISO 800?

well said ! think teapot, shoes, roast pig, orange, ang pao, cake, flower are good to include since its part of the wedding process. not nice if these are left out and of course attention of the items are very impt too. imagine the wedding actual day onli have ppls and more ppls images. ppls in the younger generation would prefer artisic approach.

IMHO !

for my own weddings, i didnt bother about those teapot etc as our package has fixed number of photos, so we include only those with people. also, i dun think we will waste money to develop those objects photo into our album. But we like children.

That's an interesting question you've raised here petf69. Do allow me to express my views here.

For me, these ornments are not the centre of attraction in the first place. As a result, I'll not 'see what, shoot what'. The most important is still the people aspect, feelings, atmosphere, expressions, etc. However, a few of the ornments with some nice touchup will add 'flavour' to the series. Too much of them, however, will spoil the entire series though IMHO.

iamasaint, would prefer you to pose more of the people in CS, rather than the ornments, as I always enjoyed your people series, expressions, mood, etc. I've not viewed your this series when I typed this, however. Also, I've yet to see the groom with the bride, who are the main attraction.

No hard feelings, as I'm expressing how I feel towards your series.

Correct me if I'm wrong iamasaint. You're not using flash for this shot. It's just that the room is pretty well lit!

Hi... I dun really make it a point to highlightthe ornaments or the people shots...as photographers I just highlight what I deem to be the better photos here. However, I do pass my couples a variety of shots...mainly expressions.... Usually there are abt 5-10 ornament shots in each series...

Yes...the last shot highlighted here was shot without a flash..taken handheld at 1/10s (i think thats what's in the exif) and sharpened in photoshop... =)

However, I have recently been using quite a bit of the lightsphere...

Have to agree with kelvin on this.

Actual Wedding Day is not about shooting people only but the decorations, ornaments, flowers and etc are part of the day itself. All this small items plays a part in the series of Actual Wedding Day photography. When you built up a series of photos in the album you will understand why kelvin shoot ornaments and flowers to his series.

If you keep on flipping pages after pages with only people laughing and smiling, would it be so monotonous just to see that? A shot of a flower and some ornaments would not hurt the series. In fact it make the series of photographs more interesting as it pause for us to look again.

Actual Wedding Day photos runs thru by the hundreds, so I guess kelvin is just pick some interesting photos to share with us. It's actually a good series that he has. Keep it up kelvin!
