which xx-300mm zoom doesnt extend when zoom to tele?

I believe that Sigma 100-300 f4 doesn't.
Not sure if Sigma 120-300 f2.8 does or not..

actually, i dont know why you would want to know.

FYI, the 24-70 is 70mm when "short" and 24mm when "long".

Well, protuding lenses tend to suck dust in sometimes... and yea, tat's one part I didn't like abt the 24-70... extend so much when at 24mm... the Nikon 28-70 is Sooo much better althou the front element still protude a bit...

Dusts doesn't really matter in most cases...

Agree... and even if it doess, it is minor... just tat for the price paid, I would expect something better ...

I think that design is unique to cater for an efficient lens hood to miminize glare at both the wide and telephoto ends ?

Nikon also have the same design but much better... u should try the nikon 28-70 out... It'll be good if canon follows tat design...

Anyhow, the Sigma 100-300 F/4 seems very promising, does not extend when zoom, constant F/4 and images are sharp...
