Default Some shots from SBG

Manage to capture some shots while shooting with a fellow CS member this afternoon. Been hearing a lot about these birds in SBG, but this is the first time I 'm seeing them. I never realise they're really so beautiful creatures...

Thanks guys for the encouragement. Yup...sometimes you need to go with someone who is familiar with the territory that you're going. The SBKF man even pointed out to me which trees the birds usually perch...

They're all shot near the eco lake, around 3.00pm to 5.00pm. Too bad the lighting was quite hash at this time. One thing quite irritating there - the crows' presence tend to scare away a lot of birds, including the BeeEaters...

Default I like the third one.....

Hmmm....great documentation and record....

The last KF one is great too....but the direct flash tel-tale could be seen by the shadow.....well......i understand in most cases these KF sits within the brances in the shade so have to do a fill flash from the lower position.....

Keep shooting...

Good catch Calv Isn't this better than shooting in the bird park ? Well, my shots taken with my Celestron C5 1250mm telescope today did not turn out well. They were rather soft. Here is a Blue-Tailed Bee-Eater taken also at SBG last week with my EF 300mm L IS lens stacked with the 1.4X and 2X TCs. Its much sharper than my telescope.

Wow Joe, didn't know that you are into digi-scoping as well. One thing I don't really like about digi-scoping is the restrictive f stop.

Yeah, the Celestron C5 is f/10. I was testing it out to see whether I could use it to capture a couple of BSKs I sighted recently. These raptors are extremely difficult to approach because they like to perch on a solitary tree with open terrain all round. I thought maybe 1250mm will be good enough reach but then the images were very soft

F/10 is still consider okay. I was initally looking at the Nikon model but they only operate at f/13.

Many many! Zebra doves, crimson winged woodpeckers, green parakeets, munias, water hens, swans, kingfishers, lesser whistling ducks, dollarbirds, common flameback woodpeckers, pink chested green pigeons, yellow vented bulbuls, flycatchers, bee eaters and of coz SUNBIRDS! just some off hand...

BTW the C5 was from my previous hobby, astronomy. I personally do not think digiscoping is the way to go if you want to take artistic bird shots. Digiscoping images from the late Lawrence Poh is pretty good though.

That I have to agreed with you. Anyway, I still prefer the flexibility of using lens rather than scope.
