Excellent shots..
The combination of perfect sunlight and low flying eagles is not an everyday occurance. Following the eagle in that dive is not easy and I am guessing you are using a lens at least 300MM. I am interested to know the camera and lens you were using if you don't mind revealing it. Allan |

heheheh very cool stuff! I keep getting the exposures wrong for these guys. FYI, the eagles can be observed at very close range at Kranji Dam area. There is a Kranji Mangrove track, they love to land there too. Best place to shoot them is at the park facing the inland water body. Just opposite the carpark and bus stop. There is open space where you can observe them swooping down to catch fish. Fred's probably got a pro body, tempting me to get back there to shoot them in action! There are sunda peckers, kingfishers of all kinds in that area, not to mention the flock of kites..

take. With the super high speed focus and save to memory speed, lots of action subjects can be taken easily. I think it is a very good camera now to buy since the D2X is coming out.. I have been playing with D2X, the 12MP may be too large actually for 'casual' non-pro birding.. The D2H/D2X camera is super duper fast.. When uncompressed , the large D2X Raw files is a big TAX on the poor CPU.... I hear Win2003 Server patched to behave like a workstation would cope much better. The estimated price of D2h from adorama.com is around $3200 SG with a bunch of things. I think this would be a great buy if that is available and give everyone a taste of 'Pro' body. I hear Cathay is selling still at SG$5000++ The D2X would be priced very much higher. Allan Last edited by Allan Teo; 20th January 2005 at 07:12 PM. |

Very nice indeed Fred. Especially the nice blue sky. Very seldom do you get this combination.

I am new to this forum and was impressed by the photos being posted!!
Personally I like 5 the best... The angle was taken perfectly with great composure, it really exaggerate the diving motion and the space in front for the eagle really helps a lot in expressing that. The claws seems to express that a kill is imminent! Truly a "pro" photo!!! Care to share whether you increase the EV for most of your shots? I could imagine the backgound must be a little too bright to fool the camera.... :-) |
