Default E-300 Workshop date confirmed, 25/01

Just got the email from Olympus Singapore. The date for the E-300 Workshop will be on the 25th Jan. Same time, same place.

I think most of you guys should have received the email as well already.

i don't think there is any bus service from city hall.

You cannot take 14 from City Hall to Oly Studio.
If it is the Oly Studio next to Singapore River, the fastest way is to walk straight from the station to the location.
FYI, Service 14 stops outside the mph block of building and goes to Penang Rd so you won't end up closer.

Hello Serene,

Urgent Clarification !

From past postings by EvilMerlin, the workshop is held at Olympus' Valley Point sales office where the E300 product launch was held. It's NOT at their High Street office.

Adddress as provided by EvilMerlin

VENUE : OLYMPUS IMAGING SINGAPORE PTE LTD

491B RIVER VALLEY ROAD
#12-01 VALLEY POINT OFFICE TOWER

SINGAPORE 248373

Reads better than 'same time same place' :-)

As I understand buses 14, 32 ply that route. 14 can be taken from the bus stop behind Wisma Atria, Orchard while 32 passes by Commonwealth/Queenstown Road towards City. I can confirm this because I passed by Valley Point yesterday :-)

Cheers,

Hi All,

I think tiong Bahru Plaza is the nearest MRT to the place. From there you might be able to take sbs service 32 I think.

Urgent clarification.

Nearest MRT is indeed Tiong Bahru, but in order to take bus, U should alight at Redhill MRT to take bus 32 and the others. Only two to three stops away.

We have about 20 some odd folks at the class last night.

We got to try out various lens even a 7-14mm wide.

Its was a good idea to have a Tech man talk rather than a pro-photographer. Having John Ariffin attend was also a bonus.

I must say I have some new appreciation and respect for the E300 (not that i did not in the first place).

All I can say is.... bring your cheque book, period!

Hello Raycsk,

Nice to hear of an initial report from you. I intended to pop by just to catch up faces in-person but was down with a bad headache & had to take a nights' rest.

How did the lessons go ? Was the course instructive ? Did they oblige any questions related to underwater photography :-)

Thanks for sharing.

Cheers,

Yeah... Indeed this lens is a good lens.
Someone there thought it is a fisheye.

Well it does look like a fish eye lens so I was not surprised that someone mistook it for that.

At SITEX I caught a pic of the lens and some did comment that it was a fisheye.

M_K thanks for the temptation of the extension. I had a sleepless night

Yeah, I almost bought the EX-25 before attending the workshop. And "thanks", I'm sure I'll get this soon....

Bought the HLD-3 yesterday, a bit disappointed as there's no command dial

The speaker Lei Antonio mentioned that there is a bug in the Olympus Master raw conversion. The bug happens to be that Olympus Master has a very aggressive conversion algorithm that blanks out some details. According to him, the software department is working on it.

BTW, this shop called Pics & Pixels at Funan sells Olympus Studio? I think I'll splash out the cash for it. Tried out the demo, very impressive.

++Edit++
Where did you buy the HLD-3 from? How much? The main problem is that it makes the camera really big and takes away one good point about the E-300, the small compact size.
