Thread: lens for wedding?

    Default lens for wedding?

    hi guys,

    I've got a d70... What's a good lens to cover a wedding? Is VR necessary? Or simply a 18-70mm f3.5 & 50mm f1.8 enough?

I'm curious as to what the pro's use. Other than 1D body :P

believe 18-70 is enough. a lot depends on your own style though.

    My setup:

    1. Nikon D2H + 17-35AFS f2.8 + SB800
    2. Fuji S2Pro + 80-200AFS f2.8 + SB80DX
    3. Nikon FM3A + 50mm 1.8 (B/W film) No flash

Sufficient for me to shoot the entire wedding.... Sometimes use the 12-24 for outdoor shoot to increase the dramatic landscape... 50 f1.8 is useful as well....

    Cheers!

A sigma 15-30 or Tokina 17-35 will actually suffice for the entire wedding, you'll be surprised to know that most pros don't use high end equipment for their weddings. A simple digital body and WA would cover everything.

The 18-70 should be enough. Bring your 50mm for a shallower DOF though. It's pretty light anyway.
