most sharks dun bite unless you provoke them... leopard sharks are generally very shy actually..

let me guess.. the background is rather dark because he is shooting downwards rather than upwards?

would have prefer a closer shot with the leopard shark's eye (though small ) more in focus.

I kind of like the 1st picture... it gives the feeling of fluidity to me ... the sense of smoothness.... "taichi"

Wld prefer more "head-on" angles for the sharks... ie swimming towards the photographer... In the first shot, the shark has already started turning away.

I like leopard sharks, so both shots are nice [scuba diver POV]

Colours abit washed out & composition for a w/a could incorporate a 2 or 3rd subject eg. sunrays, diver etc.. [u/w photographer POV]

Nah they don't.... they actually only bite you.. mauhahahaha..

Yeah the colours are a bit dull. lighting conditions weren't good so were the underwater scene.

Backgound dark because there weren't much available light

I was extremely careful not to blow out the white sand for the first shot. which also attributed to the darker than normal background exposure. Skill not up there yet.

Yeah i would have prefered a closer and more "eye" shot of the leopard shark, but alas i was never close enough. My profile was like a bungee hosed underwater bat underwater.

Hehe thanks. i was trying to achieve the frontal "face" shot but it was spooked even before i went close enough.

Yeah.... i wanted to light the under belly and have the shark come into my frame(still remember the shots we wanted to take before the trip, shark, school of rays... ).... but from maldives till similans till i hung up fins i still couldn't get this shot.... still couldn't get the shot.

Fully agree abt the shyness, none of my Leopard Shark shots had a 2nd/3rd subject either.
