Hi all, newbie on shooting RAW files here. Can someone advise, why is it that when I hook up my cam to the PC, I was not able to see the files shot in RAW but only saw those shot in JPEG format in my CF card?
For Raw files, I use AdobeRGB colorspace and sRGB for JPEG. I even tried opening direct from my CF card through adobe photoshop, but still dun see anything? What am I missing out? Or something wrong with my Cam or CF card? Please advise. Thank you all. |

When you shoot in RAW, there should be 2 files you see. 1 of them is a CRW file and another the THM which is a thumbnail file. Do you mean that the files are not seen at all or cannot be opened? What version of PS are you using, I think only PS CS comes with the RAW converter, for version 7 need extra plugin.

You did not mention whether you installed Nikon Capture or the Canon software? Depending on what camera you were using.
That might just be it. |

The files cannot be seen at all. In my windows explorer after detecting.. the CF card folder shows nothing inside. But if shot in Jpeg, I can see all the jpeg files. Im using version 7 for PS. Umm, is it normal for windows not to detect raw files in windows explorer? (maybe because they dun know what is raw files and can only detect jpeg etc.?) Then if such is the case, I need to install a plug in for PS 7 inorder for it to covered the raw files? Umm.. Which plug-in in this case? thanks man. |

what camera are you using?
first go to windows explorer and set options to display all file extensions. 300D and before have a file extension of .crw and .thm (the .thm are the sidecar files) 20D,1Dmk2 and 1dsmk2 should have extension .cr2 these raw files can only be viewed as a picture once you convert them . but in windows explorer you should still be able to see the file. they should be in your <driveletter>:\dcim\<somerunningnumber>canon folders |
