Default Kids Nowadays... Rude to seniors..

A primary school kid uses facebook status updates to scold her teacher. What has the Young Generation become? The teacher then wrote an ultra long post in reply of her.

    i look at stomp.

1: i don't think primary sch kid. but i don't agree with the tone anyways.

2: i look at the cher, not say very professional.

3: i know of teachers who don't do their share, who can't teach, who also wayang wayang one day after another.

    4: i dont trust stomp.

ultimately, respect is earned, not a given. its a privilege, not a right. teachers are also human, there can be good and bad, responsible and irresponsible ones. it is only fair that respect should be accorded to those who deserve it, rather than those who do not.

if i have a good teacher, once in a while, will invite to lim kopi, chit chat and catchup, even if after many years. chinese new year drop by gong xi gong xi them also. those teachers put in effort, students can tell and will appreciate.

bad one? sorry la. walk pass also pretend dunno.

in this case, i can't say the teacher acted professionally also. so no respect shall be accorded to him from me :P

my boss share with me one of his more interesting insights.

Sorry, in my generation, teachers are really big F, and there is no way I can agree with what the student have done.

If we adults condone such acts, our society will be in a mess in 10 to 15 years time. Can you imagine your leaders to be like that also in the future?

I am firm believer of "zun shi zhong dao". It is sad that nowadays public caning is banned. I strongly recommend that kind of punishment for that particular student. I have a feeling many young students are gonna see him as a hero, but really this guy is zero. And you know what, he with "360, 720" (translate that in Hokkien) when he walk into his school when his school reopen. That to me, is real real sad.

this 2 just contradicted each other.

i have enough faith that his classmates and friends know that he is not a hero.

Respect has to be earned, but also has to be accorded appropriately to people in positions of power.

    True to a certain extent.

The tenets of society do rest upon the need for respect for certain positions. Be it judge, law enforcer, teacher, etc, some amount of basic respect has to be accorded from the start. I agree that that amount of basic respect can be lost if the person in that position doesn't quite inspire it - but how does a school operate if the child walks into school demanding to be impressed by all the teachers before he listens?

That said, I honestly am not sure if there is a need for the teacher to respond and engage the child at such length on Facebook.

It's really common for young teachers nowadays. Going on facebook and communicate with the students. Heard afew cases of teachers being cyber bullied instead.

Perhaps just like this 438th comic strip from the brilliant xkcd, they actually have nothing to say to each other face to face in the real world?

i would prefer to say the kid should enter school with a neutral attitude, and just be there to study. if a teacher inspires him etc etc, respect is slowly build up.
same towards police, or to most things i guess...

then again, my idea of respect is pretty extreme too... so *shrugs*. my ruler for respect is different from most ppl hahaha

There's a link to the original status in the comments. It's worth reading. The best one is about how the teacher is a chinese teacher and the best comeback the student can muster is 'Please lar you chinese cher, dun act smart and use english.'

You may not respect the individual but you still pay at least some basic respect towards their profession.
