That's because I saw a cat posting by you with two mandarin oranges in its paws, multiply that by all the cats you've got & you're likely to get alot of "ang paws" over CNY by having the cats bring blessings on house visits. Getting the lens today is premature, but quite 'pawsible' after CNY :-) Cheers ! |

Hi,
For those who are considering this lense, will you consider the Sigma 55-200mm instead? I really need your feedback on which is a better buy judging that the Sigma is cheaper and covers a further range. Thanks |

I would go with the sigma even though its not as bright as the oly, cos it gives u the added 50mm ![]() |

The reality of the situation is that my cats are eating me out of house and home. I'm spending more money on them than on myself and that's why I'm broke. The ungrateful lot don't even try to pick some winning 4-D nos. to repay me for looking after them. What cheek ! ![]()

Also, there seems to be a deafening silence from both Sigma and Olympus as to whether these Sigma lenses are firmware upgradeable like the Zuiko Digital lenses and this despite the fact they have been launched overseas for quite some time already. The saving grace is that this 55-200mm lenses in its various incarnations is reputed to be very sharp for its price so much so that it seems to be forever sold-out in the States.

Two things to consider, the extra 50mm costs you almost stop of light over the Oly 40-150mm. A valuable stop that could rob you of some AF performance in lower light levels. A stop that robs you of faster shutter speed neccesary to offset handshake due to the longer focal length. But ideal on a nice sunny day, when ISO is boosted, you have a tripod or all of the above :-) Cheers, |

Have considered the following. But under low-light I have the external flash. So it would be not much of an issue. As 4 the tripod, I would do an interest chk for feisol tripods once the market place is open for posting again. cheers |

Went down to Parisilk Holland Village on the way home after to see if the lens really came as they had said earlier today.
There was indeed 3 boxes there in the shop. I was debating for some time whether to get it or not and my wallet was winning until I noticed out of the corners of my money-counting eyes .... ..... the 3 Magic Words..... 'Made in Japan' and that decided it for me right there and then (I'm so shallow )(sigh) my cats would just have to supplement their diet with grass for the next few months ![]()

Looks like Merciless Knight was right after all, one lens tonight :-) I'd like to ask him (MK) who's buying the E-3 & when ... and no ... I don't have any pets to starve to make-up for the budget ;-) Congrats ! I'm sure of seeing good picts soon. Cheers, |
