Default D.O.F Preview and Focus-Hold button

Hi, on the 7D's menu, there is an option to change the focus-hold button to a DOF preview button. My questions is, I do not seemed to see any difference in effects from the 2 modes, both seems like DOF preview to me.. (ie, the viewfinder looks darker, things behind looks slightly sharpened - still blur)

Am I missing something here?

The button refers to the button on the lens. Do you have a side button on your lens?

Some higher-end lens has additional focus-hold button(s). This setting is used to change the function of these buttons, not the DOF-preview button on the camera, which will remain as DOF-preview.

I see. for my KM 28-75 f2.8, it basically makes no diff between the 2 modes, since it doesn't have a button by the side. Am i correct?
