i dun find what she did as creative at all.... and if she goes scot-free ... i will also go do something to the roads... is it right???? i dun think so....
the stickers are ok but not the grandfather road thing in my opinion ... she is gutsy.. no doubt... but creative... i dun see it
there is an online petition for her ... i am pretty sure that i am not going to sign it....
it is pointless vandalism........ but one good thing that came out of this is is that in yahoo news one person commented to write o$p$ at the cpf building lol.....
can i start a petition against the petition ....doing something creative mah haha
There are just and unjust laws and i think the law she broke is not an unjust one....

I feel sorry for her but I guess she knew what's she's doing is illegal.
if the police doesn't do anything about it, people will say they aren't doing their jobs.

if they arrest the culprit(s), the government is at fault for the lack of freedom of speech. and since when is vandalism considered freedom of speech??

    dafuq?

damned if you do, damned if you don't.

so many blind followers she has

Overall... I do find what she does, with the sticker and spray painting kind of 'Cute'... if only she could have done it differently... like, Paste the sticker... take photo, remove it. Paint the Road or Wall with a removable paint... take photo, remove paint.

She did what she did... and will have to face the consequences of her action. We cannot have double standard regarding the law here. Lets just hope that the sentencing will be a short jail time with a fine.

As much as I find the stickers, painting are quite funny and cute, after some thinking, I decided not to sign the petition, the reason is simple.

anyone with a right mind knows she broke the law, and she has to face the penalty,
she is grown adult, not a child, she chose to challenge the laws, what else can you say?

like Mod diver-hloc suggests, remove/clean it off after take photos, maybe somebody will close one eye and noting happen.

or she can approach National Arts Council to propose a series of street art installation project. probably she will get approval and funding, than everybody happy. Why not?

She could have used chalk instead... and removable static cling plastic for the stickers...

The vandalism act locally is pretty all encompassing actually. Vandalism includes writing, drawing, painting, marking or inscribing, sticking posters etc.. Setting fire and burning property will be arson already ..

Law should be upheld. Can listen to opinion here and there, no doubt. Break the law, be held responsible. Don't argue this and that. One to exhibit/express/practise art, go through proper channels and procedure.

This is Singapore, not some Western country. I see a lot of friends who became opinionated after studying, working abroad. Some even have different accent. Gobbling up ideals of the west like nothing.

Hey, we are still brown, black and yellow skinned. The western civilized world still brand us as inferior and asian though we know how diverse "asian" is.

I think the arguement of artistic expression/freedom boils down to this mentality. East vs West beliefs.

We don't get this kind of coffee shop talk 20 years ago, could be seen as uber petty those days. Could still be, just revisit this 5 years later.

first you must "like", than you will "good at it", and needless to say people will come to you when you become "specialise in this area".

it is the same as in photography or any types of profession.

Yup... something like that. Its is kind of funny when I first saw the photo... and if it has remain as just photos for her ART... then most of us would agree that it isn't a problem. I could go to Mount Rushmore at South Dakota, in the United States... take a photo of the Mount Rushmore National Memorial where the faces of the four United States presidents... bring home and using Photoshop... 'paint' the face of each presidents a difference color... and display the Photo as ART.

But if I'm to really use paint on the presidents ??!!
