Tested the trial version of Olympus Studio 1.2. Unlike both the E-300 in-camera and Olympus Master processing workflow, the dynamic noise filtering is adjustable.
Turning it off, I managed to recover some details (in fact quite significant) from my macro shots. How much and where can we get this software in Singapore? |

Please refer to my earlier post on RCP pricing here. Pop a call at MS or CP for availability. Cheers, |

Hi Chancy
I tried out Oly Studio 1.2. My computer (IBM TP Centrino 1.2Ghz, 386mb) ran like a super slow mule. It takes forever to crop a picture. I also tried to convert one pic to b&w. Guess what? The pic became very fuzzy. I later managed to retrieve the corrupted file using Camedia 4.0. But the pic is spoilt beyond repair Maybe those who usemore powerful PCs will not encounter the problem as I did. For the time being, a simple editing software is good enough for a newbie like me. |

I'm really sorry to hear of your picture corruption & absymal responsiveness with Oly Studio 1.2. I'm unfamiliar with Studio as I'm using the basic Viewer SW that comes stock with E1 & subsequently upgraded to v1.2. Cropping & B&W conversion are done outside of Viewer in Photoshop as these facilities are unavailable. The Viewer especialy with 1.2 runs acceptably (subjective of course) fast on my 4-year old PowerBook (G4 677Mhz with 512MB RAM). It requires patience but is stable at least. You may wish to revisit the Viewer amongst many options should you venture into shooting RAW I will have to rely on the responses of those running Oly SW on Win PCs to chime in. Apologies if these feedback isn't directly helpful. Last edited by chancy; 10th January 2005 at 11:50 PM. |

Hi Chancy
Thanks for your superquick response. I guess I am using a Thinkpad and yours is an Apple - the latter is built for DTP and the former more for Windows applications in general. Also, my TP screen resolution is so-so,hence, the noise improvement shown will not be obvious to me, as compared to the Apple G4. (sigh...) I had intended to get a Powerbook but eversince I got my e-300, I hv to start saving again (sigh again). However, since the tsunami, I think I should not complain since the e-300 was bought at a very attractive price. ![]() |
