Hi everyone,
I am not sure if any of you have already seen this announcement by Olympus http://www.olympus-esystem.jp/produc...oadmap_jpn.pdf (this is a pdf file download) It says that the following lens are planned for 2005 7-14mm f4.0 standard zoom 20-40mm telephoto zoom 40-100mm super telezoom > 100mm fisheye standard macro 20-40mm telephoto macro 100mm This will certain add more variety/choices- but I hope the prices will be inexpensive/affordable ![]() Last edited by serene; 9th January 2005 at 11:03 PM. |

Hello Serene & Evilmerlin,
So far, Oly has stuck faithfully to its 2004 lens roadmap. The release of the 2005 roadmap of which the 7-14mm is a certainty, is a show of Oly's commitment to the 4/3 system. Since these new lenses are already covered in focal length range by the existing line, I speculate that we may see a more professional lineup, probably faster & constant apertures across the zoom range. AF-enhancing circuitry may be incorporated. Will there be a budget lens in the lineup? A part of that'll depend on whether more 3rd party lens manufacturers sign up as 4/3 partners. Hopefully, more information on this & an E1 successor during the coming Photo Marketing Assocation (PMA) show in US this Febuary. Details of the lineup should surface by then. Thanks for sharing, |

What plan for a poor man 1.8 prime lens like that of the Canon?
