I'm a newbie to IR pictures, i noticed that only digital cameras are able to do it. Thus, i like to know if there is any possible way to achieve infraed red pictures using SLR film. I will appreciate if anyone can tell me how to do it.
Thanks, ![]() |

http://forums.clubsnap.org/showthread.php?t=99181 Actually You can not do IR photography with Digital Camera. You need to do that with SLR camera loaded with IR film. You can go to this thread and learn more about the basic and beyond. It is quite a hot and constantly engaging thread so you should have no problem getting help there to get you going. Cheers |

Infra red photography is definately possible on film SLR cameras. You can find various sources on the web, but here is what you''ll briefly require. 1, a camera, 2. some film (Kodak HIE, Maco IR 720c, Konica infrared 740 or Ilford SFX 200 which is semi infra red). 3. a wratten or filter (this is just a red coloured filter which can come in different deepness of red, best start with a wratten #25 then you can try a wratten 87B or 87C, several manufacturers make this such as B+W and Hoya) As I have said there are alot of sources on the web and will take me alot of time to regurgitate so here are the sites that have helped me in the past. Cocam Pauck.de If you are really interested try buying this book which I have also found very usefull Infrared Photography Handbook After you have taken your shots you'll also be required to process them yourself, which of course is another thread in itself! But this should be sufficient for you for the time being. |

Hey man..thanks for the info hehe...but I am not the one asking for the information.. It was Trenyi. ![]() I have no interest in IR...been there..done that. I did not develope it myself but sent it to Australia for processing..that is...well...again...many many moons ago heheh. But thanks for sharing..I think trenyi benefitted from it. |

Well you should be able to find out more about that...but as Huynhie had mentioned it passing...there are those who does the processing themselves. Post your questions there..I am very sure you will get alot of feedback. It is one of the more active thread as far as I noticed heh. Cheers |

From what I know of, not all film SLR can shoot IR film. Some Minolta and Canon SLR uses "IR Film-counter" sensor to count film and this sensor will tends to fog your IR film.

Results from IR film is entirely different from digital IR. It's ghostly and frankly much cooler, with a red filter. See here: http://www.simonmarsden.co.uk
