I have tried that, but it has 2 catch.

Unless the fix it onto a lens perm. else when you change lens, the M42 screw mount lens will be unscrewed, leaving the adaptor on the camera.

Need to use small pins to click the 2 catch inorder to remove it.

I have 2 original "K" mount lens, 3 screw mount lens. So it diff to change lens this way.

Had anyone used a M42 to "K" adaptor without catch?

I always thought that was the main idea? To leave the adapter in the camera when you unscrew the M42 lens, if not just think what will happen if it drop off when you are taking a picture halfway?

Original one so well manufactured and can remove w/o tools. That is why original do not come with tool. Only the adapter, joy to use.

I actually like manual/automatic m42 len cos when u do metering, the len actually stopdown to the condition where the meter do the actual reading. The modern manual len are faster and the ttl wont be darken when metering but I've seen too many k-mount that has not been properly calibrated on the len-coupling. well not that many actually, but I've fix a few of used len I purchased on the net.

No, M42 to EOS adaptor not like that, it has no catch, but lens still hold in place with no problem. No problem when unmounting the lens together with adaptor.

I still have 2 pcs of "K" mount lens to use, so the adaptor must come off together with the lens.

The design of K mount and EOS mount is different mah .... EOS / Nikon / Minolta mount uses external catch to hold the lens, K mount don't ...

Actually, for M42 to EOS adaptor, there is no catch what so ever to hold the lens, but just the M42 screw. Without pressing the lens release button on the camera body, the lens will be unscrew from the adaptor, leaving the adaptor on the body.

For the M42 to "K" adaptor, you cant remove the lens together with the adpator even if you press the lens release button on the camera body. Only the lens will be unscrewed. To remove the adaptor, you need the tool that come with the adaptor.

Else, you have to fix the adaptor to the lens, which in this case, I want to share 1 adaptor with 3 M42 screw mount lens. As I mentioned, I also have 2 original "K" mount lens. It will be very difficult to change lens between the 2 different types of mounting.

Funny ..... my M42 to K body adapter does not come with tools to release it from the body ..... my M42 to Minolta body adapter dislocate itself when I press the release mount button on the Minolta body ........ If I want to release the screw mount only, I would only need to unscrew the lens.
