Default digital hydrometer: where?

Hi,
Where can we buy a digital hydrometer for dry box or dry cab?
What is the current price and preferrably the cheapest that works.

thanks

There is a shop at basement of Sim Lim Towers (not Sim Lim Square), cannot remember the name. Specialises in thermometers and hygrometers .... i got a small digital hygrometer + thermometer for about S$28

but have now reverted to a analog one ... as the digital one keeps running out of batteries every 6 mths or so

You can get it at Giant Hypermart too. The branch at Parkway has 2 models, going for around $30. With thermometer and hygrometer.

for being cheapo~! ...I bought mine at the basement DIY at Causeway point.....there r a few types for cars actually but mine is the cheapest liao...

but a word of caution, I actually used it only to double check and back up my digital hydrometer....being so cheap, I nt sure it is durable anot....I used it for ard 2wks+ only....so if u only have this hydrometer may nt be very safe...so might as well invest in a better hydrometer...

Thanks for the replies. Another question:

1. If your dry box is not see - through when you open it to check the hygrometer reading, will it change drastically/immediately once you open the box?
2. Is the ideal reading between 45-55?

thanks again.

I am using a digi-cabi 40L dry cabinet.

What happens to me is normally when I open the door, the RH readings start to increase quite fast. Can go from 45% to 70%, depending on how long the door is kept opened.

Once door is closed again, it will start to normalise again and drops to its original reading, plus minus 1 or 2% perhaps.......no big deal.......

The recommended reading for storing cameras and gears is abt 45% - 55%.

Hope this helps......

I might have mis-interpreted your question here.

If you are just opening to check the hygrometer's reading, that initial few secs of opening should not change your reading alot.

You might want to conduct a few "dry-box opening drills" to open in lightning speed......just kidding......

No Prob dude~!.. so u manage to find it?...btw u might want to try doing a salt test to check the accuracy of your hydrometer...my digital is off by ard 4% while the cheapo analogue one is only off by 1%... ....dunnoe why leh...haa

Yupz I agree wif eagles_creek on this...the digital hydometer on my cabi doesnt change immediately once I open the door...take ard 1-2 sec to react...so guess should be enough time for you to check ur readings..

the digital hydometer is already calibrated? Do we need to calibrate it again to confirm?

Yo scramblur11,

I really like that two mini-meters. Thanks for the recommendations.

Pretty neat man !!! "Stuck" it at the front of the drawers and it just makes my dry cabinet looks more cool......

Trying to have fun with $6.50......

The readings are only abt 2-3% difference between my digital and analouge.
And the thermometer is pretty accurate too!

Neat !!!

Did not do a salt test, but as long as the difference remains constant, it should be fine.

Then I realise that home-fix DIY store is also selling digi-cabi dry cabinet.40L for $148. $10 more than digital-point. They are also selling the 80L ones...two hundred plus......

jnet6 is right, I think the digital hygrometer cannot be calibrated. They are supposed to be calibrated in factory or something.
