Default Little Strand Of Hair On 10D Viewfinder

    Hi Ladies and Gentlemen,

Recently I found a short strand of hair on my Canon EOS 10D viewfinder. It does not affect the pic/focusing whatsoever, but I find it very irritating when looking into the viewfinder.

Is there any way to remove/blow/clean it besides sending it to Canon service centre?

    Anyone has experienced this before?
    Kind Regards

Did you try blowing the part above the mirror inside the camera? (i.e. the focusing screen) Sometimes dust or hair maybe stuck there instead, when you look in the viewfinder you can see it and think its in the VF, but its actually stuck on the focusing screen.

Thanx. I'll try to give it a good blow and see.

It's either the VF or the focusing screen. If focusing screen, can use blow. If VF?

Just blast the area above the mirror with the blower and it should come out

Btw, if you can't blow it out, send it in to Canon ASAP. If it gets etched in over time (from grease/oil/whatever on the hair), you may need to replace the prism to remove it.

For the Canon 10D can the focusing screen be interchangeable by user? If it is, then you can take out the focusing screen and blow on it. And when the focusing screen is taken out, then you can even blow on the prism also!

    I'm feeling lucky today!

Give my 10D a good blow job on the focusing screen and it's as clear as a white sheet of paper now. Thanx a lot for the advice and tips guys!

Good for you. I was thinking if I can't blow the hair out of the way, I'll need to send in to the workshop too.
