Hello all
I bought a compact camedia D-580 (C-460) a week ago. It worked fine until 2 days ago when i changed the batteries for new ones and larger memory card. After the change i turned On the camera opening the lens barrier , the lens extended but the display flashed on and off and the green and orange lamps keeps blinking. After this i can't make the lens retract by closing the barrier, the playback mode works fine, just the shooting mode doesnt work, i can see the "olympus" logo on display for a second but it goes off and the lens doesnt move at all. I tried other set of batteries and the problem continue. What could be the problem? Does it need a repair? Regards |

Hmm.. Try changing the battery again. Seems like Battery or power problem. I think u can power on the cam without a XD card. Because faulty XD card can also give this problem. |

i've been a user of olympus digicams since 4years ago so far whenever the batteries goes KO the lens would be stuck + all the symptoms you've said.
Hahaha thats why i always keep a spare, its embarassing to carry a cam with portruding lens you know. |
