Hi All,
Please advise how you would position your strobe for subject approx. about 20 cm away with a single strobe. The lens used is Nikon 20mm and the strobe is Sea & Sea YS120. Many thanks.............. |

I would try to aim the strobe to the middle of the subject in about a 45 degree angle to prevent backscatter and distribute the lighting evenly.

For both my single & double strobe configurations (wide-angle & macro), the strobe is always to the side of the housing, never above. I know the 'above method' is commonly seen in magazines, articles etc.. but for my personal experience & photos, the side placement seems to work better for me.

when i was still shooting with single strobe,
Subject / Strobe ref to housing straight / directly above right / left left / right Just a matter of personal preference Eric |
