Yes, you need a NEF plugin for PS7, that I think must be purchased?

If you are a Nikon Capture, you may consider experimenting with the function provided in Nikon Capture's menu Image>Open with Photoshop for transfering your image to Photoshop.

Which Capture are you referring to? Phase One's "Capture One" or Nikon's "Capture"?

If you are a Nikon Capture version 4 user, then there should be be a NEF plugin that comes with it that works with PS 7 and PS CS (possibly older versions of PS too).

I used to use Nikon Capture with PS 7 but am now with PS CS and in both situations NC4's NEF plugin always worked. You might need to reinstall Nikon Capture to get it working or try looking for a file called "Nikon NEF Plugin.8bi", that should be found in the "C:\Program Files\Nikon\NCapture4" folder, and copying it into PS7's plugin folder. I can't remember what PS7's plugin folder is but I think it's "C:\Program Files\Adobe\Photoshop 7\Plug-Ins\File Formats".

If you're referring to Phase One's Capture One, then I believe that the same should apply for the plugin. After all, that software is a lot more expensive than Nikon's Capture.
