I have this lens.
But not the macro version.

I gotta feeling they re-market the whole thing by calling it a macro.
Coz the specs is still the same as mine.
Mine is so called w/o macro, but the specs exactly the same leh.

The lens is fast, a little noisy, as no HSM.

Btw, y u give up on Tokina?
I thought Tokina is pretty good? (supposedly built like a tank)

if it is slower than the 24-120, then it must be really slow.. I find my 24-120 a tad bit slow already...

the Nikon 24-120 is not a constant F2.8 right?

This Sigma is, so by right it should be a fast lens as its a constant aperture lens at F2.8

Here is a review doen my one of the forum member using a Canon
http://azone.clubsnap.org/home/links...-70/index.html

Here r some picture samples from this lens.

Regarding the Tamron being better than the Sigma, could we have a comparison with pictures to have a better view?

hi bros, did this some time back b4 i got my tamron and was deciding btw the two. also tried 18-50 2.8 sigma, also not as sharp as tamron.
color wise tamron also is warmer which may appeal to some.

build quality, sigma definitely better. tamron zoom ring very loose. turn upside down lens can auto zoom out.

lemme find my pics, i did a few shots at 2.8 /4/5.6 / 8 for 28/50/70. corners of the sigma were softer than nikon from wat i recall, esp at wide open. tamron was prime like from f4, 5.6, sigma from f8 i think.

But in all honesty, once u shrink to <70% of the 6mp size, u can't tell the difference in sharpness btw them.

hehz, in fact, u can't tell the diff in sharpness btw MOST lens (froma 300$ lens to a 3000$ lens) once u downsize to less than 50% of the full image coz as long as u AF correctly, any image from a 6mp looks sharp at lets say 30% of full size.

thats why i'm asking wether the new len is good a not... becoz there is macro, something i woukld like to have... coz i`m not sure wether the tamron have it or not..., tamron have asll long have the lens creep prob for most of their lenses...

so for that i`m not reali in favour of tamrom lenses....another thing the built is kinda plasticish... so i`m still waiting.... to see for any new review of this new len..

u r rite in that the tamron is plasticish. i've got the 28-75, and the tamron 90mm di, all damn plastic. lousy build.

this is where tokina quality is DAMN solid.
its L series quality imho.

but i chose to go with the sharper image of the 28-75 xr di...

but imho, its not THAT much sharper. like i said shrink to 70% there's no image quality difference liao.

6 years? I tot that only applies in US but not in S'pore. Think S'pore only 1 yr.
