Default Nikkor glass on E1

i have finally gotten the Nikkor adaptor for the 4/3 mount (my E1). A BIG THANK YOU TO SERENE. so i have done some unproven test on the glass & the results r very promising.

all the pics r taken with a fix custom WB & at F5.6 (otherwise stated). settings r at 0 default except for sharpness, +3. focal length is: Oly 54mm, 28-105 at 50mm, 55mm as itself.

the 1st one is with Oly original 14-54 kit lens.

this is the 100% crop

next in line is the Nikkor 28-105.

this is 28-105 100% crop

i tried to keep all exposure as close together as possible but somehow the 28-105 seemed to be a little brighter. also all these images r taken at the exact same distance but the 55mm micro seemed to be a lot larger.

here is the 55mm micro

this is the 100% crop

for the fun of it, i also took a shot with the 70-300mm ED with close up filter 6T.
the image is bigger than life size!!

conclusion: the nikkor pics seems to be less red. many E sys users have mentioned that the Oly sys is a little red (obvious from the floor in the background). what i reckon is that the reddish warm look cud be due to the lens itself. it also turn out that the nikkor has much more details than the kit lens.

have fun!! & HAPPY NEW YEAR!!

(ps. here r some other shots with nikkor glass http://photobucket.com/albums/v224/f...kor%20on%20E1/)

its 16800yen. that relates to about $280. unless u have some nikkor glass lying around, otherwise u may not find it justifiable.

on 2nd note, it cud also open a whole new range of lenses for your needs.

Nice pics. The Nikkor pics looks to have softer colours (my perception).

Perhaps you could detail some information on how the lens and the E system works.

I'm assuming that the focusing is in manual. Pardon the ignorance.

This might spur a MO.

looks like i need to clear some doubts.

1) there's no E mount, only 4/3 mount (4/3 is like open source software)
2) Nikon has been using their own F mount for decades
3) In order for the adaptor to work, the lens must have an aperture ring
4) the E1 can only meter with center weighted metering when using adaptors
5) u can choose only M mode or A mode when using the adaptor
6) u need to manually focus & set aperture values (like the old FM2/F3 days)
7) using such adaptors is solely at the owner's risk, not mine or Oly's

things to note: when using such adaptors for 3rd party lens (there's one for Carl Zeiss & one for Leica), u need to open up the aperture ring first to focus then step down to your desire aperture value. otherwise, it will be dark & difficult to see.

must bear in mind that only nikkor or nikkor compatible lens with aperture rings can work. if u get those nikkor G lenses, they will not work.

have fun y'all!!

Hello Nightpiper,

I'm glad all the work & checks with Kindai has come to fruition. Serene's contributions ackowledged too.

I'm sure hereon, you'll be able to sieve out your best performing Nikkors and I have with my OM Zuikos.

Thanks for taking time to conduct the tests too. Propping the subject on the lenscap gives a fair idea of the subject size.

Happy to hear you've extended the longevity of your investment !

Cheers,

Hi Nightpiper,

Indeed we can see the differences when using nikkor lens.
So May I know did U use any ED(Enhanced Density) yuiko lens digital to take pictures on it?

So we can see the differences. Eg 50mm Marco Len with ED.

As we know that 14-54mm does not have ED lens on it.

HI Nightpiper,

Thanks for sharing the early pictures with us. The other photo you have taken with the E-300 w/ the Nikkor micro looks good. As far as I understand from the Japanese website, the Kindai adaptors have been acknowledged as 'the' adaptor to get as they are very well made.

Do you think you can do us all a favour but taking pictures of the mount and how to fit it onto the E-1.

ED technology is came from Nikkor itself.

BTW we cannot compare a lens with ED and a len without one on different brand. That is obviously unfair. I don't want to start a flame war okie.

So Nightpiper does Ur Nikkor Lens with ED len inside?

what does thou mean? ED on my kit lens? the kit Zuiko doesn't have ED glass & so is the 55mm AIS micro nikkor lens. my 28-105 also doesn't have any ED element, only the 70-300ED comes with it. btw, that more than life size image is taken at F8.

i m actually eyeing on the tamron 90mm Di or sigma 150 macro to complement my little Etra Dollar hobby. anyonw want to sell me a 90mm tamron Di for less than $500?

and hi serene, i only have one camera so its not quite possible to have pics taken for a step-by-step tutorial on the mounting process. thousand apologies...

Hi Nightpiper,

First you gave me 'lobang queen' title and now you ask for votes to assign me another task Anyway, no problem. You see, following website can perform simultaneous translation

http://babelfish.altavista.com/
Just type in the url.. and bingo.. (but cannot guarantee that all sentences sound correct as this is a machine )

Don't forget to post more pics about the Kindai adaptor OK
