Read long long time ago that some people got problem getting their Lowepro bag warranty honoured by the local agent. Is the situation still the same now?
I'm asking because I'm really impressed by the Targus warranty. Bought a Targus bag for my iBook some weeks ago from the Targus shop next to the Apple Centre located at Funan 5th floor. Somehow the velco came off. I got it exchanged for a brand new bag immediately. They did not even ask for recepit or prove of purchase. In fact I've thrown away the receipt. This is what they meant by lifetime warranty!!!! |

Lifetime warranty for bags normally covers the stitching problem... not on wear and tear...

I took a 2-year old Lowepro bag back to Cathay. The bag is the solid Magnum. The bag is in good but used condition - and has some material defect under the zip.
Cathay took the bag back for assessment. They called me after 3 days that they will replaced it free with a brand new one. Of course, I am quite pleased with the outcome. No hassle at all and no charges. From my experience, it seems that Cathay and Lowepro is determined to honour their lifetime warranty clause covering workmanship and material defect. |

I think they shouldn't require us to provide receipt, cos it should be Life-time warranty, 2nd, Cathay is the distributor in Singapore. Correct me if I'm wrong.

I did not have to provide them the receipt. What happened in my case was that it was a genuine material defect. I studied the warranty clauses very carefully and 'material defect' is clearly covered. I emailed to Lowepro as well as Cathay direct and ask for help. I was then required to bring the bag to the shop. While at Cathay, the person attended to me did check that the defect was not due to abuse - but the good condition of the rest of the bag spoke for itself. There was no fuss, everything was pleasant and easy enough. I mustered a big smile and gently request for repair of the affected area. I did not ask for a direct replacement, of course. A few days later, I got my New Year present - happy as a lark. |

Not sure if this will spark an onslaught of people with their defective bags, but any idea as to who did you approach on for assistance?

If Cathay do accept replacement without receipt, it WILL be out of good gesture & serivce. Anyway, their services are already good in general. |

1 for 1 brand new exchange on LowePro for me in Oz studying (the old one broke after carrying it in and out to class everyday with all my camera gear) .
Sticking to them instead of the funky Crumpler ones... forvever. Already have 3-4 lowepro bags ? I Lost count. The Pro Trekker AW II can store even my Panasonic DVX camera, wireless lavs, monitor, headphones, batteries tapes, french flag, firewire... GREAT STUFF these Lowepros. and cheaper than video brands like Porta Brace too. |
