Default New Nikon D70 Kit @S$1600

Dear Fellows

I managed to find place who sell Brand New Nikon D70 full retail Kit with local warranty for S$1600 including GST.

I do not mind sharing the place with fellow CS members. The place is at

Naranjan Trading, Race Course Road ( A small shop very crowded any time of the day in Race Course Road - Just few shops away from Muthu Curry).

I am planning to buy one from them.

I am not sure if it is the cheapest price yet. Any CS members to comment if they could recommend any cheaper price.

Regards

Jahir

AFAIK, they're approximately $100 cheaper than most of the bigger retailers out there. You might want to ensure you're getting what you're paid for and there are no other T&C involved.

not sure if Naranjan is a authorised dealer. i don't think so, but i could be wrong.

i don't really believe in grey items/parallel import items. does local warranty mean that Nikon SG will service it? or do they service it themselves? think beyond the one year period and for future servicing.

i have a dive computer (Suunto Spyder) that i always need to send in for battery replacement and servicing every now and then. I remembered with i first called the service centre in SG some years back, the first thing they asked me was "what's the serial number at the back?".

i told them and they said, "yup, bring it in!" When i asked a little more, they said they wouldn't service items that are parallel imports.

the problem was that the Suunto Spyder is recommended to have its battery replacement done by the agent and it is practically impossible to do it yourself at home.

A colleague of mine also was turned away at Kah Motors when he tried to send in his parallel import Honda.

the d70 set may cost $99 more at CP or MS color or at some other authorised dealer but it's a peace of mind!

Naranjan Trading sells stuff without warranty. Many people buy mobile phones and TV etc from him as the items are cheaper than outside. However, all the items are without warranty. The shop gives you 7-days one to one exchange assurance.

Not sure about the camera though. Just ask clearly whether it has local warranty.

Item with or without warranty (apart from stolen goods) Nikon will always service it.

Not with a smile.

Just with a fee.
