no sharpening lah, just adjust a bit on the contrast. no cropping etc
the day was slightly hazy and overcast, as can be seen in this pic [same zoom as the mbs shot and handheld too]

not thrashing lah, just stating some facts. I am a Nikon user too

i would actually like to see how much details is present in the photo when you blow it up to 2500 pixels.

maybe you can show the 4000 pixels(12MP) full size image and compare with the 7360 pixels from the D800.

If no sharpening at all, then perhaps u need to unsharpen your super sharp camera already, that type of sharpness hurts when you take portraits....

The drummer one I believe no sharpen, because even on iPhone its soft and focus was missed.

need to go to that extend meh. must reserve some face for d800 mah.
FF sensor definitely must hv slight advantage over a pathetic 2/3 sensor lah. LOL
$4000 vs $1000 not to mention cost of lens?

wow lao eh, handheld at that kind of zoom, what do you expect. if lucky when shutter pressed movement min then sharp, if unlucky excessive movement then not so sharp...

ya man, at web size, the difference is not ginormous. but when comes to big prints, big sensor will have the ultimate advantage.

Comparing wrong camera. Also comparing wrong pic. Yours is only slightly better than his 100% crop.

Haha. So can my sub $1000 camera. Yes, no big deal when photo is taken in good light and file size is relatively small. However, if comparing at full resolution (or anything from say 1400x 934 pixels upwards), it's a big deal. The difference (better IQ) is quite significant.

Anyway, the MBS photo was shared to show the amount of details the D800 can picked up at night. Have you tried looking up at it at night? Don't know about you but all I can see is darkness

    true.
I was referring to the day shot.
the sensor of the d800 is truely remarkable.

btw, curious to find out...with such resolution ie number of pixels, what is the max acceptable print size it can give?

It's just all depends on your IQ and the printing quality.

2 days back, I did a A0 print, which is 46.8 x 33.1 in from the 18MP 1DX - no compromise in IQ, every thread on the nylon costume, every hair strand, even the pores on the face can be seen. And that's 18MP only.

The video says that D800's 36MP at 141DPI can print you 52.2 x 34.8 in, which is about the size of A0. I've already did that with 18MP. What the 36MP can really print..

EDIT: My original 18MP photo was used to design an A3 size (exactly sized at A3) poster at 350DPI, but the printing shops says that it can be upsized to A0 without compromising IQ - which the print itself proven so
