Interesting. But a tad expensive, no? USD49.95 excl shipping charges. And it's not even a printed book.

Not expensive if you consider Gary's knowledge. If you don't walk away from reading this book with something worthwhile you didn't consider worth the money, I'd be extremely surprised.

Technically, he's spot on and creatively he's excellent — a rare combination. Must have been all those years he worked with NASA!

I'm hoping to join Gary on one of his tours this year.

Go on treat yourself and in the process support a true Minoltian.

Been reading Gary Friedman's book and I can say this much already. It's brilliant! I had the opportunity to interview Gary over the past week and delve into his Minolta mind. What a champion he is for Minolta equipment. His photos speak volumes for what can be achieved with the A1, A2 series.

Even though I don't own an A1 or A2 and instead, I own the new D7, there was much I could learn from reading Gary's step-by-step guide which applies to the new Konica Minolta digital workhorse.

I must say, the guide is aimed at demystifying the technical controls of the camera and this, to me, makes this guide the best of its kind on the market (including the Lantern guides). I find the supplied manuals to be difficult to interpret sometimes.

Gary says he "may" do some more if this book is successful. I'd like to see him write a guide for the 7D. Come on Konica Minolta, throw him a camera to test for a couple of weeks!

Anyway, the full story will be published at Yorkshire Media on Tuesday, so check it out.

Probably. I really dislike manuals and anything that can help me understand is likely to be bought.

There's a really good Dynax 9 manual written is German but no English. I asked them if they'd consider transtlating but they said no.

Anyway, I hope people do support Gary. I'm looking forward to his course later this year, as I'm essentially a press photographer who's trying to become a better landscape photographer

I'll post the link to the Friedman book review and story when it's all done.

Pete

Thumbs up Gary Friedman's A1, A2 Minolta Digital Step-by-Step Guide Review and Story "Live"

I was faster than I thought I'd be.

Here's the link to Gary Friedman's A1, A2 Minolta Digital Step-by-Step Guide

and my interview with Gary, thanks to the miracle of email, can be read here!

Even if you're not an A1 or A2 owner, I think you should read on and be inspired.

Hi Desmond,

As you wished, Gary has written another book! This time for the Konica Minolta 7D and 5D.

And, he's self-publishing now with online delivery which has dramatically reduced the price. I've got it, read it (and will be reviewing it soon) and I've already learnt some important tips.

Check it out.

Oh and there's an option to buy a printed version too, through Lulu.

Hi Pete,

Yeap.. weird.. I did post about the new book earlier, but its gone now. Wonder what rules does my post violate.. hmm..

BTW, have you read/review it? After the red lantern book mistake, I'm more conservative this time.
