    Default Teleconvertors for Canon 7D

    Hi folks!
I currently use a Tamron 70-300mm f4-5.6 VC USD for telephoto needs on my Canon 7D.
    Have a few questions:

    1. Compared to the above setup, would a Tokina 50-135mm f2.8 or Sigma 50-150mm f2.8 PLUS a 1.4x or 2x Teleconvertor give me better results in terms of IQ at the telephoto end?
The advantages are of course, at the lower range end I get full f2.8 which would be awesome yes?
Sigma has a new Optical Stabilised version (expensive?) and Tokina has no stabilised version right?

    2. What brands of teleconvertors are good to use? Canon (I hate the white colour haha, too obvious)? Kenko? Or any other brand to recommend?

Would love to hear from anyone who has prior experience to share!
    Thanks!!!

Teleconverters reduce the image quality, and also you need to multiply the aperture by the TC value. So a 150mm f/2.8 with a 2x TC would become 300mm f/5.6 with reduced image quality.

So your advice would be... to stick with my Tamron 70-300?

In short, yes. Tele converters will also affect AF speed btw.
