Default Zoo shots again on 28/07/02 (2/3)

Got some snake shots when it was raining. It's quite strange to setup a long lens to shoot snake. I like the effect with extension tube. Now can be really close...

Two of us were there: Megaweb using a white lens and me using a black lens. The rest are very similar: Canon D60 + Mamiya Tripod + Foba ballhead. oops, he has upgraded to 550EX and i am still using 420ex (but will be upgrading soon, keke).

thx willy I thought could meet u inside again but...

Setting like this: On tripod, very close (abt 1m or so), aperture priority (F11 was the minimum, better using F16~22). If the background was quite dark then -1/3 stop exposure compensation. For the first few shots I used flash (-1 EV fill-in flash), and later mega found other snakes were sleeping and very still, so we shot without flash. I didn't have a polariser therefore you can see the reflection from the glass in the cobra shots. Sometimes evironment was very dark (like frogs), long exposure was expected (like shooting at night). Make sure to use ISO 100 for better image quality. Cable release controlling to reduce camera shake (but I didn't use mirror lock). With DSLR, better take a few more shots cos sometimes the subject might move a little bit which rendered the pic not critically sharp. If time allowed, do a bracketing with 1/3 stop should be better.
