Default Which lens for 2 weeks trip to Greece and Egypt

    Hi all,

Im traveling with my hubby, so each of us will carry one camera. I'm having serious dilemma over lens for my upcoming trip to Greece and Egypt.

    Below are my gears:

    1. Nikon D5100, kit lens 18-55mm and prime 35mm/f1.8
    2. Olympus EP3, kit lens 14-42mm and panny 20mm/f1.7

Initially, i was looking to buy Nikon 55-200mm which cost about $200 (used). So i will bring:

    1. Nikon D5100 with 35mm & f1.8 & 55-200mm
    2. Olympus EP3 with 14-42mm

So i have most range covered and my 35mm/f1.8 for low light.

Once i started to browse through the forum, tempted to buy Nikon 16-85mm and Sigma 17-50mm/f2.8. Both cost about $600 to $700 for second hand. then it will be:

    1. Nikon D5100 with Sigma 17-50mm/f2.8
    2. Olympus EP3 with 14-42mm

    or

    1. Nikon D5100 with 16-85mm
    2. Olympus EP3 with 20mm/f1.7

Which option is better? Should i spend $400 to $500 more for Nikon 16-85mm and Sigma 17-50mm/f2.8? Or just stick to my 55-200mm plan?

    HELP!

How about D5100 with 18-55mm and 55-200mm + EP3 with the 20mm? The EP3 + 20mm is a compact combo that would come in handy in low-light situations or when you have the 55-200mm lens attached to the D5100. If you don't need telephoto range, then you don't need the 55-200mm. The 16-85 and 17-50 are substitutes for the 18-55 and not the 55-200. Whether it makes sense for you to upgrade your kit lens or not is something you have to decide.

I am not familiar with your gears. The 2 countries you are visiting has lots of large architectures. You need a wide angle lens equivalent to 16-35mm in 35mm format. I went to Egypt with a 24mm and felt that it is limiting. My friend with a 16-35 has more creative possibilities.
