According to erictan8888, the fireworks will be set off at 12 midnight.
I suggest that for those who like to meet up to shoot the fireworks, can meet up slightly eariler, and we will decide where to go on that day. (How about meet at 10pm?)

    Shortlist a few place:
    1) Fullerton
    2) Esplanade
    3) Sheares Bridge
    4) Marina South

I will volunteer to host this outing, I hope we can do this as quickly as possible. For those who are interested to join in the fun, you can PM me or email to tkp77@singnet.com.sg. I will give you my mobile number through email or PM.

Please include your nick name, real name and contact number in you PM or email.

At the same time, please update your nick on this thread.

make your way up the benjamin sheares bridge. you can go up by the stairs near to millenia walk.

i went up a couple of times in august during the sff. i like the location because it places the city skyline as a backdrop.

bring a wide angle lens, remote control/cable release, black card (not mandatory, but gives you some creative shooting options) and most of all, a very sturdy tripod. (duh)

a sturdy tripod is really a must if you go up the bridge. it was WINDY when i was there! my cheapo tripod shook like my empty stomach on a diet.

u have to see where the wind blowing from

during SFF, the wind was blowing towards suntec city

i was on the bridge that's why i got a clear view of the firework without smoke blocking

yup, i was up there on the bridge during sff to for the 1st and 2nd fw.
for the last fw (cant rmb the team), i was shooting from fullerton and i cant believe myself that i took less than 20 shots.

i second (or third) the bridge as an option. i was there for sff also. and i strongly recommend a wide angle lens like the 12-24.

the fireworks then was very near to the bridge, and shot very high. it'll be hard to get the city and the fireworks within the same frame if the lens isn't wide enough.

i believe it'll help to use a smaller apperture to lessen the effect of the smoke. and i've seen some people who very effectively ps away the smoke. still trying to achieve it myself

yup, it can be done. tried it before. able to remove smoke, but if the area is heavily smoked (aka kena smoke granade), then ps cant do much either.

    oh.... then i understand.....
guess if they cancel for this reason, then its understandable.....
feel pretty bad for people whose families were directly affected.....

let's give a moment in our lives to them....and pray that such things do not happen again.....
Hope to learn from everyone here....

phew... the sff ones seemed rather smoky, compared to the national day ones. or perhaps i was nearer, or i remembered wrongly..

can share the flow if it's not too complicated? i adjusted levels, but it plays havoc with the actual fireworks effects... faint ones also dissappear.

actually, i kinda understand if they do.

some people are of the opinion that life must go on, and not to enter the new year in mourning etc.

but on the other hand, it does feel very... aloof, detached and uncaring as a nation to be celebrating with fireworks when the disaster is of such magnitude and is recovery is still ongoing. (60,000 dead and expected to hit 6 figure)
