Like the 2nd shot best. Beautifully taken! The only minus is the distracting row of vertical pipes in the background but that can't be helped.

Unfortunately, that was the way it was on that day. Sunset was as is, so in terms of capturing exactly what was seen, this was it. An ND filter would have been useful at this point, but i think it's a valiant effort with just a UV filter on.

Metering at the sky and multipattern metering

But after editing, the feel of the photo seen to gone. Feel like it is just a orange light bulb being covered

For my case, after going through some of my shots, I think this one I like most.

Cheers

Look like sunrise? Took this with you all at the beach at Sentosa on Sunday. Look like I need to improve my skill.

Cheers

Cheers,
hi , glad to see u experimenting.
You might like to try spot or centre metering near to the sun bright area on pix 2 . A potential for silhouette great pix.

Just my sharing, might not be right.

Cheers,
Hmm.. the the sun glare is still playing trick on this shot . Balance betwn the sky and land can still be improved.
If you dont mind, I will try to post some hand-held snap shots of the same spot .I was lucky to see the full sun but no tripod

Hi! Hosea,
like to elaborate a bit on this picture why i snap on that day
I will give a title to this picture, "lonely heart, lonely day".
it is one sun, one man and one hut (3-in-1) in this picture make a lonely heart and lonely day to this old man sitting by the beach and just waiting for sun setting down. How lonely he is!
the 2 one (sun & hut) is alway there, only one man i waited for him to be taken a shot. So when that happen, i just snap one shot and wait no more.
not so such about the technical stuff (metering, exposure etc.) but just a simple picture to tell my story.
hope you share the same feeling.
Cheers,

That's because I went to another part for a short while to take the picture. That's why the picture look so different.

Hi John,
But seriously it looked like sunrise, if I was not there that day I would have thought it was sunrise, maybe a white balance thing...

I liked the ripple effect of the water in the foreground, looks kind of nice... your photo reminded me to look out for these type of details in future, I am the sort that looks at the big picture and not see the small details. I think in photography I need to be more observant in the reverse.

I have been trying to upload my pictures to PictureSky but it rejected my every attempt, next time we meet must ask both of you (HHHO and John Teoh) how did you setup your albums? may also check with my ISP if I am allowed to host some of my pictures easier then using someone elses.

I have to say both of you captured the images of our trip to Sentosa very well... mine not too bad but still underpar to both of you.

To be frank... I didn't take note of the foreground too. I was trying to see if I can make sun right behind the trees but found out that I would be swimming if I want to get it. So end up with the one you see.

Cheers
