went to take moonrise again today, with a different location. thought the port at johor will make an interesting subject with the moonrise, so i went to punggol end ...
![]() M mode, 2sec, f/2.6 on CP4500 (resting on ground) but the horizon was too cloudy, and i waited for over an hour after moonrise timing before i see the moon starting to rise above the clouds ... ![]() M mode, 8sec, f/3.4 on CP4500 (resting on ground) and yes ... the moonrise did not coincide with the industrial landscape ... sob ...the port was abit too north for that to happen ... and the air was thick with moisture and dust, the moon seemed covered by a thin veil ... so i started snapping away with whatever i have infront of me ... ![]() M mode, 4sec, f/2.6 on CP4500 (mounted on tripod) ![]() M mode, 4sec, f/2.6 on CP4500 (mounted on tripod) and boy ... night shoot is really a different game altogether, so many trials and errors ... must say the shots tonight were not good at all, just had to salvage whatever can be salvaged ... but a couple some 10m away saved the day ... i mean the night ... at least something else interesting to 'take home'. so i panned my camera slowly, trying not to arouse too much attention, and haha, yes, they got shot ... ![]() M mode, 4sec, f/2.6 on CP4500 (mounted on tripod)

1. the environment was pretty dark where i was standing and i could not compose my shots properly 2. i have not explored better angles (should have gone onto the sand and closer to the water) 3. i am still not very good at controlling the exposure (lots of 'misses') i'll need a few more attempts before i get comfortable with this kind of shooting condition ... sigh, the best moonrises only come 2 times a month (the night before full moon and the night of full moon) these shots were actually taken after sunset, would be better if there was no cloud to block the moon just above the horizon under the twilight sky.
